How to see if you are listed in the Infoseek search engine - Option 1

Check URL: How to find if your are listed in the Infoseek search engine. In the search box type: "url:www.domainname.com" (without the http://.)   In example to search for  all pages listed for the domain http://www.net-savings.net  

type          url:www.domainname.com

in example,

type            url:www.net-savings.net

How to see if you are listed in the Infoseek search engine - Option 2

Select the Advanced Search function of Infoseek, then choose "URL must contain the phrase" enter your URL, i.e. howtonet.com.  To see even more of your site, select the  "hyperlink must contain the phrase" enter your URL, i.e. howtonet.com

How to search Infoseek to see if other sites are linked to your site.

To see if any Infoseek search engine web pages are linked to your   web pages, simply do the following:

type             link:www.domainname.com

in example,

type          link:www.net-savings.net

How long does it take to appear in the infoseek search engine?  

InfoSeek is a favorite among many professionals submitting to search engines as the results can appear in as little as 24 hours.

TIPS ON ADDING A SITE TO INFOSEEK

• We are not accepting submissions via the Add URL at this time. We are performing routine maintenance to ensure the quality of our service. Please try again during our business hours (Pacific Standard Time). This is how Infoseek prevents late night spamming of their search engine.
• In the meantime, we are still accepting submissions via email. Please send a list of URLs, one per line, to www-request@infoseek.com. Each URL in the e-mail must start with http://.

OK.  You have optimized your entire web site and you are ready to submit to the search engines.  You can accomplish this a number of ways:

• Do it manually These web pages will help you do it. If you want information on how to optimize your entire site, please request information on our "How to Optimize Your Web Site Manual and Interactive Workbook."   The following search engines will account for the vast majority of your referrals, some estimate as much as 95% of all search engine traffic is generated through less than 10 search engines.

• Hire a service do this for you (Hey, we can submit your web pages to the search engines)
• Evaluate automated search engine submission software. (We have done that, and we recommend Submit Wolf)

Warning!!  If you already have a great ranking, do NOT resubmit your site.  The search engine algorithm may have changed and you could actually drop in the rankings (Yes, I know this first hand - I once dropped from #17 to #155, never more!)
