Can anybody really guarantee SE positioning?

When you pay for something, you should get what you pay for. At HowToInternet.com, and the other six web optimization companies we own, we hold ourselves to be experts, we should be able to perform
as experts. Well, we do a variation of guaranteed placement... pay for performance. And we only do it for tough words. We found that
getting high rankings for "easier" words takes almost as much work and doesn't pay as well; so we quit doing "easy" words.
We get our clients rankings, and after we have them, our clients pay
us. Pretty simple. Clients like that, they get what they want... and when they get what they want, we get a little bit too.
I always get a kick out of various e-mails saying,
Search engine algorithms change and we can't predict or determine
exactly what will work at any given time. All we can do is offer experience, skill and knowledge to maximize the chances of better
indexing.
This is not our clients problem, it is our problem. Of course, there
is an ebb and flow of rankings; it makes us work harder and stay on top of the industry. We have to stay on top of it, we have to fix it
when it is broken and we have to get rankings for our clients; and we have to get them back when we lose them: that is why clients
trust us. We demonstrate some of our own rankings to our clients for a reasonably competitive phrase, "search engine optimization," to show
that it can be done.

#2 Netscape
#3 Google
#3 Yahoo Web Pages
We have had more rankings than above, we have had less than above, this is what we have today. The same holds true for clients - we
may have a top ranked site for 6-8 months, then poof, the source index changes and we loose months of hard work and we are back to
square one. And if that happens, our clients don't pay. I guess that is guaranteed positioning...
