Geoffrey R. Caplan responded to Todd Sumrall's post on his "quest" for a credible search engine optimization company: and writes:
>Don't do business with any company that unequivocally promises or guarantees top search engine positions. <
Oh, but I beg to differ... :) When you pay for something, you should get what you pay for. Client trust is essential... and confidence, and performance, and belief, in a search engine management firm is the cornerstone of any client - company relationship.
>A credible, experienced and knowledgeable professional can demonstrate results from past performance but will not guarantee future results.<
At HowToInternet.com, and the other six web optimization companies we own, we hold ourselves to be experts, we should be able to perform as experts, and as such, we should paid be as experts. All of our search engine management services are performance based. In short, we get rankings, because we should, because we can, - (Hey, we're experts) or the client doesn't pay. Pretty simple: clients like that, they get what they want... and when they get what they want, we get we get a little bit too.
> Search engine algorithms change and those of us on the outside can't predict or determine exactly what will completely work at any given time. All we can do is offer experience, skill and knowledge to maximize the chances of better indexing. <
This is not our clients problem, it is our problem. Clients don't hire us to say, "Those rotten search engines, golly, they keep changing and that is why you don't have a rankings... -or-
Oooo, that sucks, those algorithms keep changing and I don't know what to do..." We have to stay on top of it, we have to fix it when it is broken and we have to get rankings for our clients; and we have to get them back when we lose them: that is why clients trust us. Who do you trust? InNetWeTrust.com coming soon... :)
At your service, Rod Aries http://www.howtointernet.com/?600
